He said a prisoner cannot know for certain which facility he will be assigned to. "You're playing the lottery," he said. Although some federal prisons have been criticized for their laid-back atmosphere, Henning points out that a prisoner's life is regulated and is not dignified. It is also a life filled with manual labor, even for prisoners in what are considered the better camps. "You could be raking sand traps (on a golf course)," he pointed out.
